Posting on social media isn’t absolutely necessary for growth, but in this day and age, I would say that it could be your biggest business building tool if you use it right. There are millions of potential business partners and customers who are online all around the world, and they could use what you have to offer, but they need to know that you offer it.

Again, you aren’t your company or your product. It’s a part of what you do. It will take some time. It will take some failures and some crickets before you find your niche on social media. Like I mentioned before, not everyone is for you and you are not for everyone. If you know who you authentically are, you can shine and you will attract your tribe.

While social media is an important part of the process, don’t let real life pass you by. First impressions are so important, and there isn’t anything quite like the real deal and making in-person connections with the craziness of this past year and a half. Connecting with real people hasn’t been happening as much, but it’s pretty special when it does.

When you first meet someone, do you know your elevator pitch? When that small talk first starts, when someone asks, what do you do? You don’t want to throw your business in their face, that’s going to make them run the other way. But if you have practiced your story and you know what you’re going to say before you’re in the situation, it’ll get easier and easier with time.

When you meet someone in person, your goal should never be to sell to them. Your goal should be to show them that you have value and that you could help them. Before you can get there, they need to know like or trust you, which is where telling your authentic story is going to lead you. It starts with you.
