Kickstart your Prospecting Game
Knowing what to say and when to say it can be the most difficult part of building a social selling business. We’ve written 11 Prospecting Script Examples to help you kickstart your Prospecting Game, but, before we dive in, here are a couple of script writing tips.
- Have a purpose when writing your script
- Make it personal
- Write how you talk
- Tailor your language to your recipient
- Add value with product links/images in your script (only when relevant)
- Always proofread and spellcheck
Your first ever message sets the tone for your entire relationship. So you want to make sure you’re putting your best foot forward. (Check out this Script Writing Checklist to unpack what each of the points above)
The scripts below are examples for you to use as inspiration and a springboard for your own. The best scripts are the ones that reflect the amazing YOU. After all, you’re the one your prospects want to buy from and join.

Prospecting Script Templates
1. New Social Media Follow
Script Example
Hey [INSERT NAME], Thank you so much for following my account, it genuinely means so much to me. Is there anything you want to see more on my channel?
Trigger
Consider sending new people who follow your social accounts a welcome message to kickstart the conversation and start building rapport.
2. Social Media Comment or Interaction - Product related
Script Example
Hi [INSERT NAME], Thanks so much for supporting my account. I see you liked the look of [INSERT PRODUCT NAME] – it’s one of my favourites! Have you used [INSERT PRODUCT TYPE BEFORE]?
Trigger
Send a message if someone is interacting or repeatedly interacting with a specific product on your account. In this instance it’s an opportunity to start the conversation - try closing with a question to keep the conversation going.

3. Social Media Comment or Interaction - Business opportunity related
Script Example
Hi [INSERT NAME], Thanks so much for supporting my account. I’ve noticed you’ve engaged a couple of times on posts about the Business Opportunity side of my business. I know it can be a bit intimidating reaching out to someone, so just in case you wanted to learn more I thought I’d pop you a little message. I’m currently bringing people onto my team, and I’d love to have you onboard, so let me know if you have any questions or want more information. Have a great day 🙂
Trigger
Send a message when someone is interacting repeatedly with your business opportunity content. Again, it’s a very polite message to test the waters and find out if they are actually interested. Remember to tweak your prospecting script so it's as personal as possible.
4. After meeting a new person who’s interested
Script Example
Hi [INSERT NAME], It was so lovely to bump into you the other day. Here’s the information as promised about [INSERT RELEVANT DETAIL]. I’m more than happy to chat anything over. See you again soon! x
Trigger
If you meet someone in person for the first time and mention your business and they express interest definitely send a follow up message. (Read Megan Fuller’s Penny Legend article - she actually joined her network marketing team after meeting someone at the gym!)
5. Referral Reach Out - Product
Script Example
Hi [INSERT NAME], I hope you don’t mind me reaching out, [INSERT FRIEND NAME] mentioned you loved her [PRODUCT NAME] and you wanted to know where you could get it. I thought I’d drop you a message to let you know if you ever want some you can [INSERT BUYING DETAILS]. No pressure, just wanted to make sure you didn’t miss out. If you have any questions let me know. Otherwise I hope you have a great day and maybe we’ll meet through [INSERT FRIEND’S NAME] another day! 😊
Trigger
When one of your existing customers or friends mentions that one of their friends loves the product and wanted to know where they could buy it, send a message. Ideally, your friend would pass on your details but people lead such busy lives it often doesn't happen. But as a proactive business owner, there’s no reason you can’t drop a friendly message. (The Key here is mentioning your friend/referring customer so it doesn’t come across as a cold, spam message)
6. Referral Reach out - Team Member
Script Example
Hi [INSERT NAME], I hope you don’t mind me reaching out, [INSERT FRIEND NAME] mentioned you were looking for a way to make a little extra money each month to [INSERT REASON WHY]. [INSERT FRIEND NAME] thought I should reach out. I run my own [INSERT BUSINESS NAME] and lots of people find it a great way to make a little extra cash each month. No pressure, just wanted to make you aware that this was an option and I’d be more than happy to help you get started/give you more information. If you have any questions let me know. Otherwise I hope you have a great day and maybe we’ll meet through [INSERT FRIEND’S NAME] another day! 😊
Trigger

7. Party attendee
Script Example
Hi [INSERT NAME],
Thanks so much for attending [NAME OF EVENT]. It was so great to have you there. I know making an on-the-spot decision can be a bit daunting so if there were any products you’ve been thinking about and wishing you’d bought I just wanted to let you know it’s not too late. (I’ll drop the product catalogue link for you below!)
Otherwise, this is just a message to say thank you and that if you ever want to host your own party I hope you consider me.

Have a wonderful day! - [INSERT NAME]
Trigger
After a party or an event is a great time to reach out to people. They might be interested in purchasing more products or looking to host a party themselves. Successful prospecting scripts are the ones that are personal and are delivered at just the right time.
8. Someone who shares the same pain points as you - Product Related
Script Example
Hi [INSERT NAME], I’m so sorry to hear about [PAIN POINT/PROBLEM]. Have you tried [SOLUTION]? I had [PAIN POINT/PROBLEM] last [TIMEFRAME] and I was at my wit’s end but after trying [PRODUCT NAME] it’s [YOUR RESULT]. I don’t know if you know but I loved the product so much I actually became a [CONSULTANT NAME] so I could earn some money selling the products. If you’d like to give it a go let me know and I can send you the details. Either way I hope [PAIN POINT/PROBLEM] clears up soon, I know how [EMOTION] it is. Have a good day 🙂
Trigger
When a friend complains about something that your product or service could genuinely help them with, add them to your prospecting list and send them a message. Read Terri-Lynn’s Penny Legend story. She joined networking marketing after her skin got really bad from a holiday and remembered a friend posting about a great skincare product.
9. Someone you genuinely think would be great at this business - Team related
Script Example
Hi [INSERT NAME], how are you? [PERSONAL COMMENT]. Bit of a random one but have you ever thought about starting a network marketing business? Ever since I started, I keep on thinking about how great you would be at this. You’re [REASONS WHY THEY WOULD BE GREAT]. Anyway, stop me now if you’re not interested – but I really think you’d be great at it so if you even have a small spark of interest let me know and I’d love to share more information. Hope you’re having a great day!
Trigger
Use this one sparingly and only when you think someone genuinely would be great at this business and would actually want to do it. Check out LevelUP coach LaTisha’s story on how this happened to her! It’s really important to tailor this one.
10. Email Subscriber
Script Example
Hi [INSERT NAME],
I just wanted to drop in and say… You are amazing. You are enough. You have got this.
(Sometimes I think we all need a little reminder ^)
Thank you so much for subscribing to my [NAME OF EMAIL] and supporting me on my journey.
I thought I’d check in personally and see if there’s any extra information you were looking for that I don’t cover in my monthly emails.
Whether it’s specific [MENTION PAIN POINT YOUR PRODUCT SOLVES] advice?
Or you want to learn more about [SOMETHING YOU TALK ABOUT IN YOUR MAILER]?
Or maybe you’re interested in the job opportunity?
I hope this email gives you a little bit of joy 🙂
Anything I can help you with, just let me know. Have a good day - [SIGN OFF]
Trigger
Either just when someone’s subscribed or maybe wait a bit until they’ve had more time to get to know you, send a personal email. This is a great opportunity to take your relationship with your subscribers to the next level.
11. Generic
Script Example
Hi [INSERT NAME], I hope you’re having a good week. I hope you don’t mind me reaching out but [REASON WHY YOU ARE REACHING OUT. WHAT PROMPTED YOU]. I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know [SOLUTION/SERVICE/WHY]. If you’re interested I’d love to share more information. Let me know either way 🙂 Have a lovely day! - [SIGN OFF]

We never encourage cold messaging, it comes across as spammy and gives the industry a bad reputation, but sometimes you do want to reach out to someone and there isn’t a natural opening. The trick to these messages is to make them as tailored as possible.
Remember, with all of these scripts, they won’t work just on their own (well they might! But often it takes a little bit more). Keep track of who you’re messaging and make sure you follow up with them. (The fortune is in the follow up!)
This is one of the reasons we built Penny. Prospecting couldn’t be easier with Penny. You upload all your contacts, message them on their preferred platform, leave customer notes and schedule reminders for when to follow up. AND you can even save your script templates in the app.
