Discover…

  • How to tailor your conversation
  • Trust in your process
  • Why sharing, educating and problem solving is the most important sales technique

Sales is about sharing, educating and problem-solving. I don’t know about you, but I do not want to be convincing people, begging people or acting like a stage five clinger just to get people to try my products or to join my team. That energy doesn’t feel good to me, and it definitely doesn’t feel good to the people I’m connecting with. So the way that I wrapped my brain around sales is that I’m simply there to share, to educate and to problem-solve. What am I sharing? I’m sharing my personal experience with the products, with my company and with network marketing. I’m educating the person. I’m giving them the information that they need to make a decision. And I’m problem-solving. I’m thinking about the person and maybe how some products in our product line can help them with something they’re dealing with, or how the business opportunity could potentially change their lives for the better. Here’s the deal: when you first start out, you’re going to feel the temptation to give them all of the details and to basically word-vomit because you think that it shows that you’re an expert. But the truth of the matter is you only want to give them the information that they need to make a decision and you want to answer the questions that they ask you. Otherwise, they’re going to be like a deer in the headlights and they’re going to be like, all right.

So tailor your conversation to the person in front of you and trust that once they have the information, once you’ve clarified any questions that they have, they will be able to make a decision and you don’t have to be convincing. Now, keep in mind that in order to be the best teacher, you’ve also got to be the best student on day one. No one expects you to know all of the active ingredients in your products, so don’t let perfectionism or being an expert on the business opportunity and the product stop you from connecting. Because oftentimes what really is going to make people take notice is your enthusiasm is your confidence in your determination. And besides any questions that you can’t answer, you simply say, “hey, that’s a great question. Let me find out and I’ll get back to you”. And that’s it.

But really, take the pressure off of yourself of having to convince or having to be an expert and know it all. Simply share, educate and problem solve. I’ll see you in the next video.
